Faifley Community Campus.
As part of our project to build The Faifley Community Campus, OOBE participated in St Joseph’s Primary School’s allotment design competition to contribute to the project’s social value.
The children explored the benefits of green spaces in a workshop before designing their ideal allotment. Each class creatively envisioned a community hub promoting health, wellbeing, and the environment. With the community in mind, the children explored both the practical aspects of growing vegetables and flowers, as well as the technical considerations like sustainable drainage systems (SUDs) and play areas.
Each class got to develop a sketch and create a proposal. OOBE and Holmes Miller then worked together to take the children's sketches and develop illustrations for the competition panel to judge on. The final designs, incorporating elements such as a pond, flower gardens, bicycle racks, an orchard, and picnic areas, are a testament to the collaborative spirit and creative talents of the pupils. We were impressed by their enthusiasm and insightful ideas for the allotment. Their sketches showcased a remarkable understanding of the site and a clear vision of the experience they wanted to create.
The Faifley Community Campus is bringing together two primary schools, a nursery, ASN provision, and a host of community facilities. Our team has been working alongside Morrison Construction and Holmes Miller to create a vibrant learning environment. The project is now underway and as part of the tandem build, it is brilliant that the children on site now at St Joseph’s Primary are a part of the vision. Faifley Campus will boast a forest school area and a biodiverse garden, further enhancing the school’s green credentials. OOBE is proud to be part of this transformative project. We are creating spaces that will inspire and nurture future generations.
