MIPIM 2024
OOBE at MIPIM 2024: Designing the Future with People and Place in Mind
A month on from MIPIM, we are reflecting on what we have achieved since returning to Newcastle from sunny Cannes.
MIPIM was a whirlwind of exciting connections, thought-provoking conversations, and a renewed sense of purpose for OOBE. As a landscape architecture practice, we were thrilled to be at the forefront of discussions about ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) factors and people-centric design. It's clear that landscape architecture is no longer an afterthought, but a vital element for project success.
ESG and Designing for People: Conversations that Inspire
The conference buzzed with a shared commitment to sustainable practices and designing spaces that prioritise people's wellbeing. Emma McNicholas, had the opportunity to delve into salutogenic design and placemaking, approaches that emphasise health and fostering a sense of community. These conversations solidified our belief that OOBE is at the forefront of creating positive change through landscape architecture.
Building Relationships and Sharing Our Vision
MIPIM wasn't just about exchanging ideas; it was about building connections. We had fantastic interactions with existing clients, strengthening our partnerships, and forging new relationships with potential collaborators.
Cannes: A Hub of Inspiration and Opportunity
The vibrant energy of Cannes was infectious, and the events focused on women in construction were particularly inspiring. It was refreshing to see the industry acknowledging the invaluable contributions of women and providing a platform for their voices.
A Huge Thank You to Newcastle Invest
A heartfelt thank you goes to the team at Newcastle Invest for their warm hospitality. Their stand served as a fantastic host for OOBE throughout the conference. We were particularly excited to learn about the abundance of upcoming opportunities in Newcastle, and we can't wait to be a part of shaping the city's future.
MIPIM 2024 was a resounding success for OOBE. We left the conference brimming with inspiration, new connections, and a renewed commitment to designing landscapes that are not only beautiful but also sustainable and people-centered.
The future is bright, and OOBE is eager to play its part in creating it.
MIPIM Sustainably
During MIPIM, we'll be making efforts to lessen our impact on the environment. We will use local transportation options during our stay in Cannes and at the event itself. This means we'll rely on public transport, walking, and cycling whenever possible to reduce our overall carbon footprint.
OOBE will also review the carbon emissions we produce by attending MIPIM. Then, we will offset these emissions, plus a bit extra, by funding the planting of trees in the Northeast of England and Scotland. The number of trees we plant will be enough to absorb all the carbon emissions we produce within two years.
