This week Jestico + Whiles has been awarded planning approval for their St Paul’s Girl’s School masterplan and renovation project.
The competition-winning design for one of the country’s leading independent schools emerged from an extensive stakeholder consultation exercise.
Working with Jestico + Whiles, Bristow Johnson, Bidwell, Land Use, Price + Myers and Skelly & Couch, OOBE Ltd provided the landscape designs, for what promises to be a high quality, accessible and inclusive environment in which all visitors to the school can enjoy and appreciate the historic building’s primary entrance, as it was originally intended.
Ed Gant, Senior Landscape Architect at OOBE commented: “Our landscape proposals serve to modernise the school’s primary circulation spaces at the front entrance, courtyard and car parking area to be functional and accessible, whilst being sensitive and deferential to the grandeur of the main building. They will complement the character of the Grade II listed building and the wider Brook Green Conversation Area and provide a formal approach to the school.”
Howard Pye, Associate Director at Jestico + Whiles added: “We are proud to have obtained this consent for St. Paul’s Girls’ School. The re-evaluation of the School’s masterplan is the result of much work by the school and the design team, marrying their aspirations for their future to their historic buildings and campus. We have developed buildings that we hope will deliver highly flexible multi-faceted space to enable and foster cooperative working and shared educational experience – for now and for tomorrow.”
