Dragonfly Plot 4, Barclay Campus, Glasgow

CLIENT: Barclays
LOCATION: Glasgow

Putting placemaking, people and sustainability at its heart.

BACKGROUND

OOBE worked alongside Stallan Brand to develop the primary public space which forms part of the wider Barclays Campus and riverside promenade development.  The Campus gives Barclays a competitive advantage by attracting the best talent and driving innovation and collaboration in a landscape setting to match.

THE CONCEPT

The waves of the sea and sand have inspired the ‘Social Stream’ concept developed by Stallan Brand. The ‘social stream’ or flow of movement from the city and river is organically directed towards the heart of the Barclays site. The geometries used to develop the landscape scheme to represent the ‘social stream’ reference the Campus building grid alongside the biophilic hexagonal forms to create a space that immerses people in nature.

RESULTS

The project seeks to put placemaking, people and sustainability at its heart by creating a green space set within a largely hard landscaped campus that is attractive, memorable, safe, accessible and promotes sustainability, biodiversity and well-being. The space has been designed to be as multifunctional as possible with areas for screening of films, street food markets and events use such as a DJ space.
