Landscape design that seamlessly integrates with the existing environment.
BACKGROUND
Situated west of Huddersfield city center, the site is bordered by Park Drive South, Park Avenue, and Greenhead Road. It's nestled within a mainly residential area, with the expansive Greenhead Park offering a green haven to the north.
Steeped in history, Greenhead College resides within Huddersfield's Greenhead Park Conservation Area. The college itself contributes to the area's heritage with a former girls' high school building dating from 1907. This historic gem sits alongside other notable structures, all encompassed by the protected Greenhead Park, a Grade II-listed landmark.
THE CONCEPT
The landscape design for Greenhead College is a carefully considered response to the unique strengths, opportunities, and constraints of the site. We've worked closely with the client and design team to ensure the landscape architecture aligns perfectly with the project's overall vision.
Throughout the design process, we meticulously examined the nature, typology (types of spaces), and scale of the external spaces. This in-depth analysis allowed us to create a landscape design that seamlessly integrates with the existing environment, caters to user needs, and complements the architectural style of the college.
This approach ensures the final product is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and fosters a positive experience for students, faculty, and staff.
RESULTS
We're delighted that Greenhead College has been successfully handed over and students are already enjoying the new facilities! It's fantastic to see the college buzzing with activity and these wonderful new spaces being put to good use.
